The primary focus of this class is to achieve a straight, gymnastic or circus-style handstand. Each week we will cover the drills, stretches and theory to build the flexibility, strength and control to hold a perfectly aligned, freestanding handstand.

There will be a fun warm-up, lots of kicking-up, partner work to learn to effectively spot each other’s handstand, and a little bit of general conditioning. Dependent of the level of the students, we can progress to straddles, tucks and press-to-handstands.

It is not expected for you to be already able to balance a handstand but for your own safety it is advised that you have the strength to be able to hold a handstand against the wall for 20-30 seconds with reasonable form. Learning to handstand does take some practice but we’ll have a lot of fun along the way!
